Castles, towers and fortresses, having had a monitoring and defense function are frequent throughout the Salerno province (Italy). This land was historically subject to raids and invasions of different dominations. Expressions of life and culture of another era are all too often empty and abandoned.

The goal of the project is to return the central role castles of the region played over the centuries by creating a strong bond between the fortresses and surrounding land, and by stimulating fruitful cooperation between scholars, experts, and local administration in developing ideas for castles’ possible reconstruction and future use.
